Another Not So Scary Halloween Crochet Hat Pattern

In keeping with my last post and pattern with a not so scary Halloween hat for my daughter. I was on a roll and decided to create another pattern.  This striped hat was fun to make and I added a scarf to wear with it.  The patterns are below:

Hat

Materials:  orange yarn, black yarn, white yarn, crochet hook G, yarn needle, scissors

Size:  I made this for my daughter who is 7.  It fits her and myself as well.  If you want a larger hat, on row 7 add another increase round or more.

Abbreviations:  sc (single crochet), dc (double crochet), ch (chain), dc 2 together (dc decrease stitch)

Row 1:  With black yarn, magic Circle and crochet 14 double crochet in the circle (14) switch to orange

Row 2:  Chain 2, 2 dc in next stitch, 1 dc in next, repeat around, join to first dc,  (21) switch to black

Row 3:  Chain 2, 2 dc in next stitch, 1 dc in next, 1 dc in next, repeat around, join to first dc, switch to orange

Row 4:  Chain 2,  2 dc in next stitch, 1 dc in next, 1 dc in next, 1 dc in next, repeat around, join to first dc, switch to black

Row 5:  Chain 2,  2 dc in next stitch, 1 dc in next, 1 dc in next, 1 dc in next, 1 dc in next,  repeat around, join to first dc, switch to orange.

Row 6:  Chain 2,  2 dc in next stitch, 1 dc in next, 1 dc in next, 1 dc in next, 1 dc in next,  1 dc in next, repeat around, join to first dc, switch to black.

Row 7- 14:  Chain 2, dc around the hat through row 12, joining to first dc on each round. Change colors back and forth from orange to black after each row.

Finish off.

After row 14, I turned the hat over and did a single crochet around the hat, joining in any stitch and crocheting around.

Skeleton Face

Row 1:  With white, magic circle.  Crochet 8 dc.  Join at first stitch.  Chain 2.

Row 2:  Dc 2 dc in each stitch around.  16 dc.  Join at first stitch.  Chain 2.

Row 3:  Dc 2 in first stitch, 1 dc in next stitch.  Join at first stitch.  Finish off.

Eyes on Skeleton

Row 1:  With black, magic circle.  sc in the magic circle 6 times.  Join at first stitch.

Row 2:  chain 1.  Sc 2 in each stitch around.  Finish off.

Scarf  

With orange yarn, chain 20.

Row 1:  Double crochet in second chain from hook and in every stitch across.

Row 2:  Switch to black, chain 2 and double crochet in every stitch across.  There will be 19 double crochets on every row.

Row 3- 91 Switch back and forth between black and orange yarn and keep double crocheting 19 on each row.  You can add or take away rows if you want the scarf longer or shorter.  Finish off.

Edging:

In any double crochet on scarf, join with a slip stitch and single crochet around.  Put 3 single crochets in each corner.  I used black yarn.  Finish off.

Skeleton Face

Row 1:  With white, magic circle.  Crochet 8 dc.  Join at first stitch.

Row 2:  Chain 2, Dc 2 dc in each stitch around.  16 dc.  Join at first stitch.

Row 3:  Chain 2.  Dc 2 in first stitch, 1 dc in next stitch.  Join at first stitch.

Eyes on Skeleton

Row 1:  With black, magic circle.  Sc in the magic circle 6 times.  Join at first stitch.

Row 2:  chain 1.  Sc 2 in each stitch around.  Finish off.

Sew in all ends on the scarf and place the face on the scarf as picture shows.
